Guernsey Finance has appointed William Lewis as a dedicated Business Development Representative for the insurance sector.
William has worked in the insurance market for more than 44 years and has broad experience, including the formation of protected cell companies (PCCs) and extensive interaction with the Guernsey regulator.
He has also dealt with UK and Lloyd’s regulators, and has served as the director of a Lloyd’s members agent and a Bermudan special-purpose insurer.
William is currently a Director of Hampden Insurance (Guernsey) PCC and a Research Analyst at Hampden Agencies, both of which he will continue alongside his appointment with Guernsey Finance.
This is the first time a sector-specific Business Development Representative has been appointed, overseen by Guernsey Finance and the Guernsey International Insurance Association (GIIA).
Guernsey Finance believes the appointment marks a step-change in the way it works with industry to promote Guernsey’s specialist financial services sector to the wider world.
Chief Executive Rupert Pleasant said: “Through discussions with GIIA, we recognised that the insurance sector would benefit from having a dedicated business representative, as it is unlike the other specialist financial services sectors we have here in Guernsey."
