The hit Netflix series Shadow and Bone is getting a Season 2. The announcement was made during Netflix Geeked Week, an online event celebrating upcoming and recently released originals.

Season 2 will consist of eight 1-hour-long episodes, and writer and executive producer Eric Heisserer will continue his role for the upcoming season. As part of the announcement, Netflix tweeted out a video of the cast announcing new episodes.

"I'm honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo," said Heisserer in a statement.

Season 1 debuted in April and was a big hit for Netflix, with 55 million households tuning into the series in the first 28 days. However, it's important to note that Netflix counts a view as someone who watched at least two minutes of an episode or movie.

Heisserer will executive produce alongside Grishaverse novelist Leigh Bardugo, Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment, and Pouya Shahbazian.

"I've been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I'm thrilled we get to keep this adventure going," explained Bardugo. "There are so many places we've barely gotten to visit and I can't wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes, and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It's going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand."

No release date has been announced, and Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
