A WOMAN has been arrested following an early-hours flat fire in Denholme.

Emergency services, including firefighters, police and the ambulance service, were called to the ground-floor flat on Fairfield at around 3am. 

"Extensive" damage has been caused, though no-one has been injured.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "A 55-year-old woman from Bradford has been arrested in connection with this incident.

"A police cordon is currently in place whilst enquiries continue."

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said 100 per cent of the flat was involved and firefighters used four breathing apparatus sets and two hose reels at the scene.

The spokesperson said: "No persons were involved. No working smoke detectors were in the property."

Fire crews were at the scene for around three hours and it was described as a "significant fire" with the majority of the flat affected. 

Crew commander Nick Spence, of Illingworth fire station, said: "The flat was well alight when we arrived.

"There was also a lot of smoke.

"It took around ten minutes to bring the fire under control.

"The damage to the whole flat was extensive."
