Bengaluru: The state education department is planning to convert 2,000 schools into dual medium schools soon. In these schools classes will be conducted both in Kannada and English medium.
These schools also include 1,000 English medium schools started when HD Kumaraswamy was the chief minister.
An announcement in this regard was made by the primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar.
However, there is no clarity on which wil be the medium for the students to write the examination.
“The state government decided to impart lessons in English and Kannada medium in 2,000 schools. All these days, these schools had just one medium of instruction,” he said.
Meanwhile, S Suresh Kumar also warned the private English medium schools which do not teach Kannada.
“We will derecognise such schools which do not teach Kannada as a language,” he warned.
