If you’ve ever considered transforming an attic or the space above a garage into a bunkroom, let this collection of 15 stylish and functional spaces inspire you. 1. This mountain house near Lake Tahoe, on the California-Nevada border, includes a grand bunkroom whose walls and ceiling are covered in wood paneling painted in Farrow & Ball’s Calke Green. The space, built by the team at Heslin Construction, features four built-in bunk beds.

2. John Kraemer & Sons built a bunkroom for this home in Minnesota’s Brainerd Lakes area. Note the fun plaid carpeting on the floor and the stairs leading to the upper bunks.

3. This children’s bunkroom on Washington’s San Juan Island features eight bunk beds and plenty of integrated storage. The plywood ceiling adds a nice rustic touch. The space was created by NB Design Group.
4. This fresh and airy bunkroom is on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. The space, designed by SLC Architect, includes a central staircase leading up to two bunks. Note that the bottom steps of the staircase double as pullout drawers.
5. Each bunk in this Denver bunkroom by Vertical Arts Architecture includes its own window, allowing for views and fresh air. The two lower bunks have pullout drawers underneath to maximize storage.
6. The Anderson Studio of Architecture & Design created this bunkroom for a home on South Carolina’s Kiawah Island. The space is paneled with gray-washed oak on the floor, ceiling, walls and bunk beds. The light wood makes for a serene, natural setting.
7. Blume Architecture calls this Dallas home “a modern saltbox.” Among its many features is an attic bunkroom paneled in white-painted wood. The large space includes a sectional sofa and a TV, creating a fun hangout for family and friends.

8. This mountain lodge in Aspen, Colorado, by Charles Cunniffe Architects includes an elegant bunkroom with six bunks set up like sleeper cars on a train. Each bunk has its own plaid curtain for privacy.
9. Nameplates above each bunk let family members know which sleeping berth is theirs in this bunkroom on South Carolina’s Lake Keowee. The space was built by Morgan-Keefe Builders.
10. This rustic Wisconsin lake house includes a bunkroom featuring a ceiling and bunk bed made out of reclaimed wood. The space, with its lovely water views, was designed by Jean Rehkamp Larson of Rehkamp Larson Architects.
11. A bunkroom doesn’t require bunk beds. Three twin beds make up of this shiplap-clad attic bunkroom in a Texas Hill Country vacation house designed by Tim Cuppett Architects.
12. The design team at Bayberry Cottage turned an unfinished room above a garage into a children’s bunkroom for a beach house in Michigan. Cheerful red-and-white check bedding and shiplap walls painted in a vibrant light blue are among the stars of the space.

13. This ski chalet bunkroom in Vail, Colorado, was designed by Reed Design Group. The space provides a great mix of rustic and modern with its wood-paneled walls and bunks with matching matte black metal hardware and ladders.

14. Renovation Planning & Interiors created a contemporary bunkroom for a New Hampshire lake house that features a whopping seven twin beds in a relatively small space. Each bunk includes its own wall sconce for reading in bed.
15. JMT Fine Living created this rustic yet luxurious bunkroom for a Utah ski chalet. Each custom bunk bed features a Ralph Lauren blanket that has been turned into a privacy curtain.
