Boston-area rents generally flat from May into June

Apartment rents in the Boston area stayed pretty much the same from May into June or dropped slightly, according to a new report from real estate listings site Zumper.

The report analyzed the rents on available apartments during May, so it is a pretty good snapshot of the region right now.

As you can see from the table below, one- and two-bedroom apartment rents stayed pretty much the same month to month median-wise, though there were some dips (note the nearly 5 percent decline for Quincy one-bedrooms).

The only real exception was in Newton, where the one-bedroom median spiked 4.4 percent month over month.

As for year-over-year changes, those were a bit more pronounced than month-over-month ones. For instance, in Boston proper, the median one- and two-bedroom rents stayed the same month to month; but they both dropped slightly year to year.
