Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) plans to eulogize his father, Lawrence J. Hogan Sr., during a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Annapolis on Saturday morning.

Amelia Chasse, a spokeswoman for the governor, said the Mass for the former congressman and Prince George’s county executive will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The burial will be private and held in Frederick.

Hogan Sr., 88, died last week at Anne Arundel Medical Center from complications following a stroke.

While in Congress, he was the first Republican member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee to call for President Richard M. Nixon’s impeachment in 1974.

He was the only Republican member of the Judiciary Committee to vote for all three articles of impeachment against Nixon.

The governor, who considered his father a mentor and political adviser, wrote his name in on the presidential ballot in November instead of voting for any of the nominated candidates.
