While this late '60s sci-fi series had low production values, it more than made up for it with good acting. The Invaders is clearly a predecessor of the X-Files alien invasion story arc. (Did someone try to warn the public in the late sixties about something that may have already been going on at the time?) The X-Files' extraordinary popularity grabbed the collective imagination and has been translated in 18 languages. Maybe the general public was not so open-minded in the sixties, when The Invaders was first broadcasted. At long last available on DVD, The Invaders can give X-Files fans an idea of what an alien invasion was like on TV, forty years ago. It does not compare visually with the X-Files, but the acting is efficient and the general mood is equally dark. (Speaking of dark, bring 'Dark Skies' to DVD soon!)Read full review
Fascinating late 1960s UFO drama. The original of the "alien invasion" TV shows. Well acted, good plotlines, and clearly shows how some "conspiracy theories" might actually be true. Vivid technicolor. Perfect quality DVDs with additional supplemental material not found in later, cheaper editions.

Larry Cohen has taken a hot topic of the time -- aliens -- and worked it into a nice fictional concept that captures the fears of Soviet infiltration and invasion during the Cold War combined with lingering post World War II fears of Japanese and German infiltration and invasion. Good acting, good directing, and good screen plays. A real nice period (late 1960's) television series.
Had to get this from enjoying the first series so much, lots of top actors and smart stories.
