George Clooney, who made a cameo in "Downton Abbey" in season 5, was asked never to return again to the series.

At least, this is what the actor shared when he made a guest appearance on "Good Morning Britain."

"Truth is we did a three-parter and they cut me out," the actor said in the interview."Hugh [Bonneville] told me not to come back." Bonneville plays the patriarch of the Crawley household in "Downton Abbey."

The "Tomorrowland" star also revealed that he did not want to destroy the success of "Downton Abbey" like he did when he played Batman in "Batman and Robin."

"I think since I nearly destroyed the Batman franchise, I could hurt that series really badly if I come back to that," Clooney said.

It will be recalled that Clooney made a special guest appearance in a Downton Abbbey sketch for the Text Santa Telethon, which aired in the U.K. last Christmas. The actor played an American guest of the Crawleys.

But even if Clooney is never returning to the series, the lives of the Crawley family and their servants are going to be very exciting in the upcoming season.

Lady Mary just might find the man that she would end up with. According to an interview with show creator Julian Fellowes, Matthew Goode's character, Henry Talbot could be the man that will be Lady Mary's (Michelle Dockery) happily-ever-after.

"Mary has definitely shown a flicker of interest she hasn't much shown before, so it will be interesting as to where that goes," executive producer Gareth Neame said.

Meanwhile, Bonneville hinted at possible heartbreak for both Lady Mary and Lady Edith. "Some faces that we met towards the end of the fifth season may or may not be coming over the horizon to break or make the hearts of Lady Mary and Lady Edith and people like that," Bonneville revealed.
