Oregon Ducks Return to the Top 10 of Associated Press and Coaches Polls

The Oregon Ducks had a statement win on Saturday against the UCLA Bruins and it was not just the Offensive Line that made the statement. Mark Helfrich and Don Pellum had the team firing on all cylinders keeping UCLA off balance on offense for the first three quarters and chasing UCLA Quarterback Brett Hundley to the tune of five sacks on the day. With the return of Offensive Lineman Jake Fisher the Ducks Offense was much more efficient as Oregon had their first one-hundred yard rusher on the season in Freshman Royce Freeman.

Voters took notice. The Oregon Ducks re-entered the top ten at number 10 in the Amway Coaches Poll and number nine in the Associated Press poll. In looking at the AP poll, Michigan State is one spot ahead of Oregon, which would surely be fixed before the College Football Playoff vote if both teams win out since Oregon did beat Michigan State earlier this season.

Another surprise in the poll is a new number one team. Florida State has been bumped in favor of Missisippi State whose wins over the last two weeks have not only been impressive, but have launched the team from oblivion to the top spot the fastest of any team in the history of the Associated Press poll. After this weekend there were also no teams in the Pac-12 Conference without a loss.

The Pac-12 team at the top, for the moment, is Oregon. After losing to USC over the weekend Arizona dropped from tenth to sixteenth in the AP Poll. Arizona State(17th), Utah(20th), USC(22nd) and Stanford (24th) rounded out the poll this week.

The Oregon Ducks face a 5-1 Washington Huskies team this weekend at Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5pm Pacific Time on Fox Sports 1.
