  • PHI Shortstop #7
The speedy 30-year-old shortstop singled, stole a base and raced all the way around from second to score on a wild pitch as Bryce Harper walked in the fifth inning, but it seemed to have taken a toll on his hamstring as he was replaced when the Phillies took the field. The severity of the issue — and whether or not he’ll miss any time — remain unclear. More should be known on his status prior to Saturday’s game against the Giants. All fantasy managers can do now is sit tight and hope for the best.
  • WAS Outfielder #30
No word yet on what happened to the 24-year-old speedster, but he was replaced by Jesse Winker when the Nationals took the field to start the fifth inning. Prior to exiting, Young had been 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Look for the team to provide an update on his status shortly.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #17
Eovaldi suffered the injury while twirling a gem against the Nationals on Thursday afternoon. The Rangers have not yet commented on how long they expect the 34-year-old right-hander to be sidelined for. Yerry Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock to take his place on the roster for the time being.
  • PIT Catcher #32
The 24-year-old former top overall pick opened the season as the Pirates’ starting catcher, but stumbled to a miserable .162/.280/.206 slash line with zero homers, four RBI, zero stolen bases and a 29/11 K/BB ratio over 83 plate appearances. Getting back into a rhythm at Triple-A and beating up on minor league pitching should help to restore his confidence before the Pirates bring him back up. Yasmani Grandal was activated from the injured list in a corresponding move on Friday.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
The Twins haven’t commented publicly on the results of Buxton’s MRI exam yet, but the fact that they’re terming the injury as only inflammation and not anything structural is certainly encouraging. Twins’ manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters that he’s hopeful Buxton will be able to return in 10-14 days, but that seems a bit optimistic given Buxton’s lengthy injury history. Austin Martin was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move to take his place on the active roster.
  • BOS Shortstop #5
As expected, the Red Sox will have their dynamic 23-year-old infielder on the field for the first time of the season on Friday night against the Twins. He’ll be starting at second base and batting seventh against Twins’ right-hander Chris Paddack. Grissom hit .333/.444/.400 with a pair of RBI and two stolen bases in 36 plate appearances during his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Worcester.
  • TOR Shortstop #47
The 24-year-old will head down to the minors after five games with the Blue Jays where he had just one hit across 18 plate appearances. He struck out 33% of the time in his at-bats with Toronto and will continue to develop at the Triple-A level.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #32
The 32-year-old will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks as he heals from a lower back injury. Matz pitched earlier this week and tried to push through the pain, but it appears it’s too much for him to continue without proper treatment and recovery.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #35
Steele went 3 1/3 innings in a rehab start at Triple-A Iowa where he allowed three runs on six hits earlier this week. The 28-year-old is now back in Chicago where he’ll continue to work to get back to full strength. The expectation was that Steele only needed one rehab assignment before getting back to major league action, so we’ll see how he does this weekend and await next steps from the team.
  • BAL Third Baseman #86
There isn’t much left for Mayo to prove in the upper minors at this point. The 22-year-old top prospect homered for the fourth consecutive contest, and now leads the International League with 11 round-trippers to go along with an astronomical .333/.397/.683 triple-slash line through 30 contests. We’re quickly running out of superlatives and it feels like a matter of days, not weeks, before Baltimore is forced to summon him to the majors.
