SAP's Bussman Says CIOs Need to Drive Core Innovation In Their Business

This article is more than 10 years old.

SAP is a major supplier of software to the CIO office, so what do they think CIOs should prioritize? I got an opportunity to talk with Oliver Bussman, CIO of SAP last week.

SAP kindly edited the interview and you can view it below. One of the most interesting messages from Bussman is the need for CIOs to invest IT talent in the company's core products and services.

The interview was part of a project I have been doing with Cognizant's Center for the Future of Work - you can check out their website here.

A couple of other things he says?

CIOs need to be deeply engaged with business processes. As mobile, Cloud and Big Data continue to impact the organization they lead to more process externalization, leaving IT with less technological tasks to occupy their resources. Instead they need to drive business innovation and to engage in change management.

Oliver speaks a lot of sense and talks in a very succinct way - the video repays a couple of viewings.
