Telefónica ended the second quarter with 784,600 pay-TV subscribers in its home market Spain.
Although this was 4.8% more than in the corresponding period last year, it was down from the 786,400 posted three months earlier and 788,200 at the end of 2010.
The telco’s performance in the pay-TV sector was little better in the Czech Republic, where its IPTV operation O2TV has flatlined in terms of subscriber numbers in recent months.
As of the end of Q2 it had 129,800, a mere 800 more than three months earlier but 2.6% fewer than the 133,200 as of Q2 2010.
There were more encouraging signs in Germany, where Telefónica’s pay-TV operation ended Q2 with 79,500 subscribers, only 500 more than three earlier but up 36.7% on the total 12 months earlier.
The telco’s global revenues in the first six months of the year amounted to €30,886 million, or 6.3% more than a year earlier.
OIBDA was €11,304 million (+3.7%) and the net income stood at €3,162 million (-16.3%).
