A Los Gatos woman who sat on the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury this year will lead the group next year, officials announced Friday.

Superior Court Presiding Judge Richard Loftus named Kathryn Janoff the grand jury foreperson for the fiscal year starting in July.

Current grand jury members Alfred Bicho of Morgan Hill, Robert Buxton of Los Gatos and San Jose resident Gerard Roney were also appointed to second terms.

The grand jury independently investigates government issues around the county and reports them to cities and various agencies around the county, often suggesting reforms.

The other new grand jury members (and their city of residence) for the coming year are: Curtis Bishop (Sunnyvale), William Black (San Jose), Ronald Blagg (Sunnyvale), Donn Byrne (Los Gatos), Robert Christensen (San Jose), Richard Frias (San Jose), Hans Halberstadt (San Jose), Lyn Johnson (Los Gatos), Kathleen Lockwood (Santa Clara), Steven McPherson (Los Altos), James Messano (San Jose), Cynthia Milk (San Jose), James Segrue (San Jose), Lilia Tenes (San Jose), and Peter Turnbull (Mountain View).
