UPC Broadband Slovakia is taking steps to prevent illegal reception of its MMDS service in Bratislava and surrounding area.
In a statement, the company says that it has started broadcasting digital MMDS signals on a trial basis and that they will be encrypted from July.
At present, UPC Broadband Slovakia’s MMDS service is received in around 30,000 households.
Earlier this month, the Slovak Telecom Office (TUSR) awarded the operator a 10-year MMDS licence in the 2200-2300 MHz frequency band for Bratislava and surrounding area.
UPC is the leading cable operator in Slovakia, providing triple play services in a total of 34 cities.
