Cambridge-based digital TV software provider ANT has confirmed that Freesat has licensed its ANT Galio technology for use in future satellite receivers.
The company said that it expected the agreement would generate revenues within the current financial year.
ANT Galio draws on standards-based technology including HTML and has already been used for the delivery of HbbTV services.
In March, Broadband TV News revealed that the second generation of Freesat boxes, dubbed G2, would incorporate HbbTV technologies.
