This 1972 Buick GS 350 convertible was originally delivered to Anthony Buick Inc. of Patchogue, New York, and was purchased new by the sellerโs uncle, from whom the seller acquired the vehicle in 2017. A refurbishment that was completed in 2024 involved repainting the green exterior, replacing the power-operated tan convertible top, and refreshing the tan interior. Power is supplied by an overbored 350ci V8 linked to a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear differential. Air bags for the rear suspension and electronic ignition have been added, and other features include a four-barrel carburetor, hood scoops, a dual exhaust system, wheel covers, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, a retro-style stereo, and lap belts. This Gran Sport shows 88k miles and is now offered with a window sticker, manufacturerโs literature, service records, and a clean North Carolina title in the sellerโs name.
Buick manufactured 852 Skylark-based GS convertibles for 1972. Finished from the factory in Hunter Green (48), this car was repainted under current ownership, according to the seller. The power-operated tan soft top and its components have been replaced, and the bumpers were rechromed. The rubber seals for the windows, doors, hood, and trunk also have been replaced. Exterior equipment includes quad headlights, hood scoops, GS badging, a driver-side mirror, body-side moldings, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets.
Black 14โณ steel wheels with Buick Motor Divisionโbranded covers are mounted with 215/75 Hankook whitewall tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Supplementary air bags have been added for the rear suspension.
The bench seats are upholstered in Saddle vinyl, with the front seat having a folding center armrest and outboard head restraints. The seller states that the door panels, armrests, carpeting, and glovebox were replaced during the aforementioned refurbishment. A Bluetooth- and satellite-radio-compatible retro-style stereo is fitted in the dash. The interior also houses lap belts, convenience lighting, and a heater. The dashboard clock does not work.
The two-spoke steering wheel is affixed to a tilting column and is cracked around its edges. Instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer and a combination gauge monitoring fuel level, oil pressure, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 1,100 of which were added by the seller.
The 350ci V8 left the factory topped by a Rochester four-barrel carburetor. The engine was rebuilt in 2008 by Leifert Automotive Machine Co. of Torrington, Connecticut, with work that involved installing .030โณ-over pistons, reconditioning the connecting rods, fitting hardened valve seats, and replacing the camshaft, lifters, valve springs, bearings, gaskets, and the oil pump. Electronic ignition has been adapted.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a column-shifted three-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The undercarriage photos in were taken in mid-2024.
