Anciients Won Their Second JUNO Award

0

Here’s a great story that happened earlier this week: Canadian progressive metal act Anciients took home their second JUNO Award for Best Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year, besting four other well-deserving bands/artists in the category.

The band received the high praise and accolade during the 55th annual JUNO Awards this past Monday. It was the second JUNO Award nomination and win in the band’s career, having won back in 2018 for their previous album Voice of the Void.

As a bit of a reminder, this year’s nominees for the JUNO Award for Best Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year were:

  • Beyond the Reach of the Sun, Anciients
  • PowerNerd, Devin Townsend
  • Fire, Kittie
  • The Fear of Fear, Spiritbox
  • Ultrapower, Striker

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. The Canadians just know how to support their artists, metal or not. The JUNO Awards are infinitely better than the Grammys and it’s immediately evident with their annual metal awards.

With the band’s second JUNO Awards win now in the books, Anciients’ vocalist and guitarist Kenny Cook said he and his bandmates were extremely humbled by the win.

“We are completely ecstatic about winning the JUNO Award for Best Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year. Just being nominated alongside the other legendary nominees was huge for us. We never fathomed we could win it, but we are over the moon with excitement and surprised that we did. Thank you to the JUNO Committee for choosing Beyond the Reach of the Sun as Canada’s best Metal/Hard Music Album of 2024/25. It is a massive honor for us.”
