Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Secretary Milind Deora has requested that air conditioner manufacturers and traders prioritize popularizing 5-star modules in the country, especially in major cities such as Chennai, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru in South India.
He stated in a press release that the 5-star rated air conditioners would be of immense benefit to consumers in Visakhapatnam, which, being the State’s industrial and commercial hub, has been recording rapid energy consumption.
The initiative helps achieve the objective of making Visakhapatnam a net-zero emissions city. The Central government is intensifying its push for energy-efficient cooling solutions, with an emphasis on selling as many 5-star rated ACs as possible.
