  • Survival of the Thickest (Netflix) – Michelle Buteau’s heartfelt and hilarious comedy follows a plus-size woman rebuilding her life after a breakup.
  • The Upshaws (Netflix) – Created by Regina Y. Hicks and Wanda Sykes, this sitcom follows a working-class Black family trying to make it work.
  • Clean Slate (Prime Video) – Laverne Cox co-created this comedy about a conservative dad reuniting with his estranged trans daughter.
  • The Ms. Pat Show (BET+) – Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams brings raw, real, and hilarious storytelling to this semi-autobiographical sitcom.

  • Forever (Netflix, May 8) – Mara Brock Akil’s new series explores love and relationships through the lens of fate and destiny.
  • Government Cheese (Apple TV+, April 16) – Co-created by Ayesha Carr, this drama follows a man trying to rebuild his life after leaving prison.
