Jeff Kennett on Melbourne underground rail: 2012 vs 2025

Jeff Kennett really is a tool.

He privatised the state of Victoria that now we all regret. He hated rail at the time selling off the Freight Network and causing millions of tonnes of freight to shift to road, he denied Melbourne the Airport Rail Link the federal government at the time was prepared to pay for in full.

Kennett tried to close down the Warrnambool Line and lift it, he closed Mildura and Shepparton alter being reopened.

He sold V/Line to national rail which collapsed after realising the poor state of the rail network under his stewardship.

He lifted the South Gippsland Railway Line despite much traffic being available and a major port being considered for South Gippsland.

Now Kennett is anti the Suburban Rail Loop despite wanting to deliver metro rail services in 2012, he is two faced and cannot be taken on his word.

  1. Kennett policies have proven to have been a disaster for Victoria he cannot be believed and trusted he is a political after all and a very arrogant man. This site would not have the services it has now without the Labor Party doing all the heavy lifting. We had nothing from the libs last time and I was too young for Kennett. Regional rail is not perfect but it is there and people are using it. The metro tunnel will be great when opened and the SRL will be fantastic also. Just need to move quicker on this stuff.

  2. Jeoff Kennett did nothing useful for Victoria except sell all of our important services off to private enterprise who our profit from the citizens of this state.

He is anti-rail he does not like Rail investment. He even refused to invest in the Melbourne Airport Rail link in 1995 when the federal government was willing to provide the entire subsidy to the Victorian Government.

He has been in bed for years with the toll companies and his former treasurer went to work for Transurban post his tenure as a government treasurer.
