BJP State president and Rajahmundry MP Daggubati Purandeswari held a review meeting on the organisational elections here on Saturday. Union Minister Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, party’s national executive member Somu Veerraju, State election returning officer Paka Satyanarayana and organising secretary N. Madhukar were present.

Ms. Purandeswari called upon the party leaders to complete the mandal-level elections by December 27, and explained the process to be followed. Mr. Srinivasa Varma said the BJP was strong because of the internal democracy that was flourishing, and exhorted the leaders to strive to make things better.

Vajpayee birth centenary

Meanwhile, BJP State spokesperson S. Yamini Sharma said in a press release that the party would celebrate former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth centenary from December 25, which would be observed as the Good Governance Day.

She said the reforms initiated by Vajpayee enabled the country to make rapid strides across diverse sectors and his contributions to the development of national highways and telecommunications among others were most praiseworthy.
