Law Minister H. K. Patil appealed to the government to consider installing a statue of former chief minister S. M. Krishna in the premises of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru as a mark of respect towards his contribution to the development of Karnataka in general and Bengaluru in particular.

The Minister made the appeal while paying homage to Mr Krishna in the legislative Assembly at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on December 10.

Mr. Patil had worked as Irrigation Minister in Mr Krishna’s Cabinet. Recalling Mr Krishna’s contribution to the completion of the Upper Krishna Project, particularly the Almatti reservoir-related work, he said another memorial should be built near the irrigation project to show gratitude to him.
