Over 100 Southwest passengers were recently delayed after a cell phone fire caused an emergency evacuation and at least one injury
Millions of people use commercial airlines for their travel needs each year. However, most of these plane passengers are well aware that almost anything could delay their journey. Recently, a group of people on a Southwest airplane were postponed after a cell phone caught on fire and caused at least one injury. Luckily, they eventually reached their destination after being held up at the airport.
These plane passengers probably never thought a cell phone fire would cause their delay
Being a plane passenger on a commercial airline can be stressful. This isn’t because of the flying aspect of the journey but rather all the moving pieces that can impact your experience. According to KDVR, a Southwest Airlines flight was about to depart the Denver International Airport with service to Houston, Texas. The flight had 108 passengers on it. This happened on the morning of November 15th.
The report says that everything went according to plan for the plane passengers traveling to Houston. However, before the flight took off, someone’s cell phone caught on fire, causing the seat the phone was in to go up in flames. Of course, this is a massive safety issue regardless of location, but the flight crew had to evacuate the aircraft. The report says passengers in the rear of the plane used the side doors while the others used the front door.
Regarding the plane passengers, one person had a minor injury from the fire, and the person who owned the cell phone received treatment for burns. Luckily, they eventually made it to Houston on a different plane. They were about three hours behind schedule upon landing.
