Revised guidelines for Referral process in CGHS • Revised guidelines for referral process in CGHS has been issued on 28.6.2024. • For treatment at private empanelled hospitals, the referral issued by any CGHHS Medical officer is valid for three months. One may consult two more specialists up to three specialists. A maximum of six consultations shall be allowed during the validity of three months. • No further endorsement is required for investigation and minor proceedures as advised by the specialist within the validity of three months. • However, referral is required for special investigations like CT Scan, MRI Scan PET Scan and any other investigation costing over Rs.3000 and referral is valid for three months. • Referral is valid for three months for admission in the hospital. • For unlisted investigations and treatment advised by specialist of CGHS empanelled hospitals it shall be considered by the CGHS 9AD) in case of pensioners and Head of department in case of serving employees. • Special provision for CGHS beneficiaries shall hereafter apply to 70 years aged pensioners instead of existing 75 years.
