• The Postal Dept took the demand of medical facilities to GDS and their families with National Health Authority under the flagship scheme of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY)
• The draft for MOU has been discussed with the unions. The following is the features of the scheme.
• Family floater medical facilities scheme with an upper limit of Rs.5 lakh per family enrolled at present. GDS & Family will be entitled of overall limit of Rs.5 lakhs in one year.
• If the NHA revises the limit in future, the same would also be applicable to the GDS enrolled as well.

• Covering wide range of surgical packages including the treatment for 50 types of cancer.
• It covers pre hospitalisation and post hospitalisation expenses up to 15 days medicines, diagnostic procedures etc.
• It is proposed to run on self-support and self-sustaining basis.
• It is mandatory for all GDS. Contribution would be between Rs.250 to 300 per month deducted from the TRCA of the GDS. The contribution will be reviewed periodically to see its self-sustainability and contribution may be revised in future.
• In Delhi, Odisha & West Bengal this is not operative and the GDS will be covered under the Central Govt hospitals and CGHS empanelled hospitals.
• To avail this the GDS and their family members should have Aadhar updated in the Portal .
• If no consent received from the unions before 22.5.2024, it will be presumed that there will be no objection and the Dept will proceed for launching the scheme at the earliest.
