7 Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh, 3 security personnel injured
RAIPUR: Seven suspected Maoists were killed and three security personnel injured in an encounter on the borders of Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh's Bastar region Friday, two days after an attack on a newly established police camp in the district was foiled.
A joint operation was launched by District Reserve Guards units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Jagdalpur and Kondagaon districts, and ITBP after inputs about the presence of Maoists from West Bastar division in the villages of Mungedi and Gobel, around 40km from the Narayanpur district headquarters and 270km from Raipur.

The gunfight broke out near Gobel and raged all day in the thick jungle. After the Maoists fled, police found seven bodies in uniform. A statement by Narayanpur police said many Maoists were injured but managed to escape. Three DRG jawans were injured and their condition is stable, police said.
As many as 129 Maoists have been shot dead this year, police said. There have been allegations of fake encounters that cops have denied.
