Dumka constituency of Jharkhand Lok Sabha Election 2024: Date of voting, result, candidates list, main parties, schedule
Lok Sabha Elections 2024
Dumka is a parliamentary constituency in Jharkhand. In 2019, Dumka parliamentary constituency had total 13,97,253 electors. Total number of valid vote was 10,25,968. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Sunil Soren won and became MP from this seat.
He secured total 4,84,923 votes. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate Shibu Soren stood second with total 4,37,333 votes. He lost by 47,590 votes.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha refuted the speculations of former chief minister Hemant Soren contesting against his sister-in-law Sita Soren in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections when it fielded Nalin Soren from the Lok Sabha seat.
1x1 polls

"The party has decided to field Nalin Soren from Dumka seat and Mathura Prasad Mahto from Giridih," a JMM official said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has already fielded former JMM MLA and estranged sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, from the Dumka constituency, reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
The BJP had on March 2 renominated sitting MP Sunil Soren from Dumka but later withdrew his candidature after the party fielded Sita Soren who joined the party this year.
Sunil Soren had defeated JMM president Shibu Soren in the 2019 polls by a margin of 47,590 votes.

After joining BJP, Sita Soren launched an all out attack against her family members. Sita Soren has alleged that she was 'neglected by the JMM' and was in 'isolation' after the death of her husband Durga Soren in 2009.
"The change that came in our lives after my husband's death was no less than a nightmare. We were neglected and isolated socially and politically," Sita has claimed.
She has also demanded a high-level probe into the "mysterious death" of her husband. Dumka will vote in the last and seventh phase of the Lok Sabha polls on June 1.
