NEW DELHI: Voting for the Asansol constituency in the Lok Sabha elections will take place on May 13, in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Voting in West Bengal is set to take place in all seven phases from April 19 to June 1, aiming to elect 42 members of the Lok Sabha.
The election results will be announced on June 4, 2024. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, the TMC won 22 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP gained notable momentum with 18 seats.

Congress won two seats.
The candidates for the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency are Shatrughan Sinha from AITC, Jahanara Khan from CPI(M), and S. S. Ahluwalia from BJP.
In the 2019 elections, the Asansol parliamentary constituency boasted a total of 1,615,865 eligible voters. Babul Supriyo, the candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party, emerged victorious, clinching the position of MP for this constituency with a total of 633,378 votes. Moon Moon Sen, representing the All India Trinamool Congress, secured the second position with a total of 435,741 votes, trailing behind by 197,637 votes.
In 2014, Asansol parliamentary constituency had total 1469684 electors. Total number of valid vote was 1142395. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Babul Supriya Baral (babul Supriyo) won and became MP from this seat. He secured total 419983 votes. All India Trinamool Congress candidate Dola Sen stood second with total 349503 votes. She lost by 70480 votes.
The main parties vying for seats in West Bengal include the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and a coalition of Left Front and Indian National Congress.
The model code of conduct came into effect from March 16 and will continue until the completion of the vote counting process on June 4.
