BENGALURU: Another woman has accused Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna of raping her and filed a complaint in this regard with the cyber-crime police station of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
According to sources in the special investigation team (SIT) probing the sexual assault charges against the MP, the woman has alleged that Prajwal raped her repeatedly.
The complainant was seen in one of the sleaze videos allegedly involving the MP.
A case has been registered under IPC Sections 376 (2) (n) - (committing rape repeatedly on the same woman), 376 (2) (k) - (being in a position of control/dominance over a woman, committing rape on such woman), 354 A (sexual harassment), 354 B (assault or use of criminal force on a woman with intent to disrobe), 354 C (voyeurism), 506 (criminal intimidation), and under the Information Technology Act.
SIT officials, however, refused to reveal details about the complainant, such as her age or profession. "Protecting the identity of the victims is of paramount importance to us. We cannot say anything about the victim," a senior officer said.
This is the second case of rape registered against Prajwal Revanna, who has fled the country. Earlier, a
rape case was filed against him by a local body member at the CID station. Another woman, who worked as a domestic help in the MP's household, had filed a complaint of sexual harassment against the MP and his MLA father, HD Revanna, at Holenarasipura Town police station.
A youth form Mysuru district has also complained that his mother was abducted on instructions from MLA Revanna, who has since been arrested in the case.
On Friday, SIT officials brought one of the victims to the residence of HD Revanna in Basavanagudi for mahazar (spot inspection). The victim had complained to the police that she was being raped in the Basavanagudi house. This is the second victim's spot inspection at the Basavanagudi house.
The SIT issued notices on Friday to Karthik, a former driver of Revanna's family, and BJP functionary and advocate Devaraje Gowda. SIT officers have asked Karthik and Devaraje Gowda to appear before the investigating officer within 24 hours of receiving the notice.
A complaint regarding the leaking of explicit videos on a pen drive was registered at Hassan CEN crime police station on April 23 based on a complaint filed by a JD(S)-BJP election agent. The case was registered against Naveen Gowda and others under the IT Act.
The SIT has taken the case seriously as the victims' faces were released without being blurred or hidden.
