Despite the prevalence of Neopagan fakelore, which refers to invented narratives justifying new traditions, there is no historical evidence to support the claim that Easter originated from pagan festivals ("Neopagan Fakelore" 2005).
Date of Easter
The high holy days of Christianity, including Easter, were established in the early church based on the biblical dating of Passover, which itself dates back to Moses' time. The date of March 25th was widely accepted as the date of Messiah's conception, death, and creation of the world (Grant 1991). This date was also the equinox, facilitating calculation.
