The Premier League likes to style itself as the best league in the world and it certainly lays claim to being the wealthiest as well.
Attracting capital from all corners of the globe, its 20 clubs represent attractive investments even if only one can lift the trophy every season.
Sell-out crowds at home and exposure to audiences all around the world offer plenty of revenue streams for England's top 20 clubs, who are able to attract the best talent.
As reported on Tuesday, Manchester United's new part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe slipped just behind Arsenal chief Stan Kroenke on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index following his £1.3billion investment at Old Trafford.
But which of the Premier League clubs actually has the wealthiest owners?

New Manchester United part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has seen his personal fortune decrease by over £1.5billion over the past 12 months, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index

Ratcliffe's outlay has taken him just below Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke on the rich list
1. Newcastle United - Saudi Public Investment Fund, RB Sports & Media, PCP Capital Partners - £489billion
It's tricky to properly measure the wealth of Newcastle's owners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, because not all of their resources would ever be made fully available to the club.
Some reports value the sovereign wealth fund at a colossal $700billion [£550bn], others less.
Collectively, the worth of the Saudi PIF, which owns 80 per cent of Newcastle, plus the Reuben brothers' RB Sports & Media [14 per cent] and Amanda Staveley's PCP [six per cent], is believed to be around £500bn.
Whatever the precise sum, it dwarfs everyone else in the Premier League.

2. Manchester United - Glazer Family, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos - £22billion
Ratcliffe's arrival - and £1.3bn purchase of a 27.7 per cent stake and control of football operations - has elevated Manchester United into second spot on this list.
The Glazer family's worth is valued at about £8bn by Forbes, while Ratcliffe's is now £13.87bn according to Bloomberg, so about £22bn in total.
That's plenty of Rasmus Hojlunds.

3. Manchester City - Abu Dhabi United Group, Silver Lake - £17.2billion
The City Football Group (CFG) - founded by Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Khaldoon Al Mubarak - now spans the globe, but Treble-winning Manchester City are the crown jewel.
Backed mainly by Abu Dhabi's wealth, who own 81 per cent, as well as American money from Silver Lake and a one per cent slither from China, estimates put the combined ownership of City's wealth at just over £17bn.
That should be enough to keep them competing for all the major honours.

4. Arsenal - Stan Kroenke - £13.87billion
As mentioned, Kroenke has nudged just above Ratcliffe in Bloomberg's chart but the American billionaire is all alone in his ownership of Arsenal.
What started with a 9.9 per cent stake in 2007 became total ownership just over a decade later.
His Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group also owns NFL franchise Los Angeles Rams, NBA's Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, Colorado Rapids in MLS and many more.

5. Chelsea - Todd Boehly, Clearlake, Hansjorg Wyss, Mark Walter - £12.5billion
American billionaire Boehly - No 385 on the Bloomberg list in case you were wondering - paid £4.25bn for Chelsea in 2022 after Roman Abramovich was forced out.
Like Kroenke, Boehly has wide sporting interest and is part-owner of baseball side LA Dodgers and basketball's LA Lakers.
His wealth combined with private equity firm Clearlake Capital, Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss and American Mark Walter, gives Chelsea plenty of spending clout - as we've witnessed.

6. West Ham - Daniel Kretinsky, David Sullivan, Tripp Smith, Vanessa Gold - £10.36billion
One estimate recently put West Ham's collective ownership above the £10bn barrier.
Czech businessman Kretinsky, who came on board in 2021, has a net worth of £7.4bn according to Forbes.
David Sullivan is worth £1.2bn, the less-spotted Albert 'Tripp' Smith £1bn, with the Gold family and other shareholders making up the rest.
