New messages from one-time Trump lawyer Ken Chesebro this week showed him concocting wild scenarios aimed at blocking the certification of the 2020 presidential election that left one legal reporter stunned.
The messages in question were flagged by Politico's Kyle Cheney on Twitter, and he commented that they show how "remarkable what a fantasy-world these lawyers running Donald Trump's last-ditch effort to overturn the election were living in, even days before Jan. 6."
In this particular case, Chesebro walked through the mechanics of forcing the results of the 2020 election back to state legislatures, in which he gamed out how then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi might try to block a vote in the House of Representatives.
"If each state gets one vote in the House, then Pelosi must take action and cannot allow a vote because I believe the R's have more states. Am I right?" one unidentified individual asked Chesebro.

"Yes," replied Chesebro. "Republicans have 26 states. McConnell should not allow a vote either, because Republicans electing Pence would look illegitimate -- would seem like Pence froze the process to become acting president instead of Pelosi."
Chesebro then added that "Republicans electing Harris would be a horror" and argued that "McConnell would need to protect his caucus from such a Hobson's choice."
In reality, none of Chesebro schemes came to pass after former Vice President Mike Pence concluded it would be blatantly unconstitutional for him to refuse to certify the results of the 2020 election.
However, Pence's decision came at a cost, as Trump-loving rioters would subsequently violently storm the Capitol and force members of Congress to flee for their lives.
