Navya Nanda's podcast, 'What The Hell Navya' is now into its second season and the first episode aired on February 1. This episode revolved around 'women at their work place', the
stereotypes that they face and the way women are even pigeonhold into a profession because of the way they look.
Jaya Bachchan, Navya, and Shweta Bachchan Nanda discussed the various perceptions around a woman's beauty and how things have changed with time.
During this chat, Navya revealed, "So, many people are like, ‘Oh you're so pretty. You should be an actress.’ As if beautiful women can only be actresses and only be models. I get that a lot."
Jaya added that today, the so-called beautiful is not beauty! Today, beauty is also a lot more about a woman's personality. So, there's been a shift in the perceptions of the society and slowly the stereotypes are breaking.
Shweta added that she doesn't consider herself beautiful going by the conventional beauty standards but as she's grown older, she's gotten comfortable in her own skin and is more confident now. But young girls face a lot of societal pressure sometimes. Which is why, she applauded the beauty and fashion industry for their efforts to embrace diverse body types, skin tones and not just confine to traditional beauty standards.
During this chat, the trio also discussed how one sees women in different professions now which were earlier limited only to men. For instance, Jaya Bachchan said, she was the producer of the popular television show 'Dekh Bhai Dekh' and even earlier when she started off as an actress, there were mainly only men on the set and the only woman seen on the set was the hairdresser!
