NEW DELHI: BJP on Friday slammed the Karnataka government over the incident in Belagavi where a Dalit woman was paraded naked with party president J P Nadda calling it “shameful” and saying that such “heinous crimes” have been on the rise in Karnataka since Congress formed government in the state.
Nadda also constituted a five-member fact-finding committee comprising the party’s women MPs to visit the village in Karnataka .
The five-member panel comprises BJP MPs Aprajita Sarangi, Sunita Duggal, Locket Chatterjee, Ranjeeta Koli and party national secretary Asha Lakra.
Nirmala Sitharaman said it had significantly amplified the concerns being raised about the law and order situation in Karnataka. She said after the Belagavi incident, Karnataka falls in the same category as those with repeated atrocities against Dalits as seen till recently in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh when Congress was in government.
