HSKM leader Azad Palwa said Neelam had done nothing wrong by raising her voice for the voiceless. Maintaining that she had no criminal record, he said she was being projected as a hardened criminal but all she had done was to speak up for the marginalised.
The panchayat and khap members decided to extend all support, including legal assistance, to Neelam, who is highly inspired by the ideals of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
“We demand her prompt release, else a meeting of all khaps of Haryana and farmers' unions will be called in Jind district to consider the matter and major decisions will be taken. Family members are being asked not to worry, and they may approach farmers if anything wrong happens in the future. We are all united and are making contact with other khaps and unions,” Palwa added.

Neelam Verma: The highly qualified but unemployed accused in Parliament security breach case is a regular at protest sites

Phour, the Majra khap spokesperson, reiterated the support of khaps for Neelam and said that she was not associated with any party but had simply raised her concerns for the nation. “These protesters reached Parliament to draw the attention of policymakers. They were not carrying any dangerous weapons. Nevertheless, the Centre took a dictatorial step and imposed UAPA. Action should be taken against the MP who provided them with the pass to enter the premises. The youths were just trying to raise the issue of rampant unemployment. The khaps will review the situation and take action accordingly,” he added.

Neelam's mother, inconsolable since the FIR against Neelam, told TOI: "My daughter is not a terrorist but is depressed due to unemployment. When Neelam sustained spine injuries in 2015 and had no job, she decided not to marry. She just wants a job. I am worried about her health as she can't sit for a long time due to her injuries."
The panchayat in its resolutions demanded Neelam be released, charges against her be dropped, and the media be objective in the matter. It decided to extend all support, including legal aid, to her. HSKM leader Azad Palwa told TOI Neelam did nothing wrong by "raising her voice for the voiceless".
