Uganda and Namibia secured qualification for ICC's premier T20 event, outpacing Zimbabwe in the Africa Region Qualifier. Zimbabwe, a Test nation, faced disappointment as they finished third among the seven teams in the qualifier, missing out on qualification for the prestigious tournament.

Uganda left behind continental favourites Zimbabwe in Africa to punch their maiden ticket to the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held next year in the US and the West Indies.
Uganda and Namibia finished ahead of Zimbabwe to book the two available spots for ICC's showpiece event in the shortest format of the game. Uganda won five of their six matches to finish in the top two of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier.

Namibia won all six matches to end up on top of the standings.
Test nation Zimbabwe has been left to lick its wounds as the team failed to qualify for the big-ticket tournament, finishing third in the seven-team qualifier.
Their historic moment for Uganda arrived after they defeated Tanzania on Tuesday and then broke into a celebratory dance to enjoy their success.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Jay Shah, congratulated the Uganda team in a social media post.

"HISTORY CREATED! For the first time in their cricketing history, Uganda have qualified for the T20 World Cup after convincingly beating Rwanda in their final game of the Africa region qualifier! What a moment for Uganda Cricket. Congratulations to all the players and support staff for a stunning qualifiers campaign and best wishes for the 2024 T20 World Cup," he wrote on 'X'.
