Breaking News LIVE: DFS Gets 100 Calls Related To Fire Incidents On Diwali

Six people were hurt in a leopard assault here on Sunday, including four members of the Fire and Rescue Services, according to Forest Department authorities.

According to the firefighters, they were hurt while attempting to rescue a woman in whose home the huge cat sought sanctuary after wandering into a human habitat in this mountainous hamlet.

The Delhi Fire Service has received a total of 100 calls of fire related incidents on the evening of Diwali, officials said on Sunday, PTI reported.

"So far, the total number of small, medium and major fire related incident calls is 100 from 6 pm to 10.45 pm. Our team is totally ready to provide help," said Atul Garg, chief of the Delhi Fire Service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Diwali.

President Murmu also met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar along with his wife Dr Sudesh Dhankhar, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, and Union Minister Smriti Irani at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Seven people were killed on Sunday when a jeep they were travelling in met with an accident in Nepal's Nawalpur district, police said, PTI reported.
