Josh Jacobs expected to report to Raiders in time for Week 1 game vs. Broncos

Josh Jacobs has been holding out from Las Vegas Raiders training camp and preseason games this summer while in a contract dispute with the team.

That’s relevant to the Denver Broncos because they are set to host the Raiders in their season opener on Sept. 10. If the running back’s holdout drags into the regular season, Denver wouldn’t face Jacobs in Week 1.

It sounds like Jacobs is not planning to extend his holdout into the regular season, though. Jacobs is “expected to report to the Raiders before their season opener,” according to a report from Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Even if he does report before Sept. 10, Jacobs might have a limited workload in the season opener after sitting out the entire offseason. In seven career games against the Broncos, Jacobs has totaled 879 yards from scrimmage and scored nine touchdowns.

If Jacobs does not end up reporting before Week 1 as expected, Zamir White would be the top candidate to start in his place against Denver.
