The political fraternity, business community and Christians have on Sunday 13-8-2023 thronged in Draju Village to mourn the death of former Oluvu Sub-county LC III Chairperson Hon Simon Matua Aniku born on 15-5-1965 and died on 10-August-2023 after serving for 10 years as the LC III Chairperson of the area and lost reelection in February 2016 when his opponent defeated him with only "One" vote.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party Chairperson for Maracha District, Mr Gabriel Ofekua noted that, it was the late Hon Simon Matua Aniku who singlehandedly mediated unity between him (Mr Ofekua) and LC5 Chairperson Hon Obitre Stephen after engaging in quarrels and physical fight in 15-6-2022 fueled by viral Kololo Seed secondary school construction project corruption allegations coupled with some accusations of attempts by Maracha district council to move a motion to censure the then RDC Mr Ayikobua Festus.
The NRM party Chairperson also lashed out at community members who commit cultural turbos in various ways and when it backfires deadly, they start accusing other people of money rituals.
Before presenting condolence message and condolence offer to deceased's son Mr Govule Francis who doubles as a teacher in Arua Public Secondary School, the Director of Studies for the school Mr Onzima Nelson told mourners to do at least one positive achievement on this earth so that they can be remembered for when dead.
Maracha District woman MP Hon Jennifer Driwaru eulogized the late Hon Matua Simon Aniku for playing crucial role in harmonizing conflicts in the sub-county and district NRM party structure regardless of biasness and segregation.
Since he is now dead, the woman MP warned the clan members never to attempt trespassing or grabbing land from the orphans he left behind.
To make sure people live in a holy way like God wishes, preacher at the funeral, Fr Adrokibo Stephen advised the mourners to live a life with purpose instead of living a low status life of Eating, Drinking and Producing like how animals do.
Having been bedridden for many months,, Hon Matua Simon Aniku died because of diabetes.
