DEHRADUN: Kashmiri journalist Muzammil Zahoor Malik, 28, arrested by the J&K police last month in Srinagar for allegedly receiving funds across the border for terror activities, had no red flags in the verification report sent by J&K police to the Dehradun-based media organisation where he worked last year.
This information was shared with
TOI by an officer of a central intelligence agency tracking the case.
Uttarakhand DGP
Ashok Kumar said, “The state police are offering all help to investigative agencies as it is a case related to national security.”
TOI had exclusively reported on July 22 that Malik had worked at a Dehradun news channel before returning to
Kashmir.
J&K police called him a “self-styled” journalist and arrested him on July 19 for allegedly receiving terror funds in his bank account which was opened with fake documents. He was booked under sections of the IPC and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
