The latest box office figures are in, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has fallen to No. 2, beaten out by a huge performance by the horror movie Insidious: The Red Door.

The Dial of Destiny earned $26.5 million during its second weekend in the US, falling 55 percent from its first-weekend haul of $60 million domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Red Door, meanwhile, debuted this past Friday and earned $32.7 million for the July 7-9 weekend.

That was the second best opening weekend for the Insidious series in the US, trailing only 2013's Insidious: Chapter 2, which made $40.3 million. Internationally, The Red Door made $31.4 million to push the film's global results to $64.1 million after just one weekend.

The Red Door had a reported budget of $16 million, so things are seemingly looking good in terms of the movie's profitability.

The Dial of Destiny, meanwhile, has now earned $121 million in the US and $126 million internationally for a global result of $248 million so far. The movie is one of the most expensive film productions in history at a reported $300 million. That figure does not count marketing expenses. Some believe The Dial of Destiny will struggle to make a profit at the box office. The film will also surely come to home video and Disney Plus, so box office results make up just one element of the movie's overall earning potential.

The Dial of Destiny is expected to be the final entry in the series with Harrison Ford in the lead role. It recently came to light that the story was quite different before director Steven Spielberg dropped out. The Dial of Destiny is the first entry in the long-running series that he did not direct.
