Police officers from Rolling Meadows and Arlington Heights responded around 3:00 a.m. (estimated time) Thursday, June 22, 2023 to a report of a suspicious person or suspicious people checking mailboxes near Dove Street and St. James and Eastman Street in Rolling Meadows. Although there has not yet been confirmation from the police, a neighbor told CARDINAL NEWS that a vehicle was stolen from the neighborhood near Dove Street and St. James Street. There may also have been some criminal activity on Eastman Street. Another neighbor told CARDINAL NEWS that a vehicle was burglarized, and the offender or offenders took a checkbook that was in the burglarized vehicle.

Regarding the stolen vehicle, there was apparently a short police pursuit as police arrived on the scene while one offender or two offenders were still in the neighborhood of Dove Street and St. James, which is just south of the Cook County Circuit Court – Rolling Meadows. The offender driving the vehicle crashed the stolen vehicle into the front steps of a house on the Arlington Heights side (east side) of Wilke Road just south of Campbell Street. The vehicle is believed to have been stolen in the neighborhood of Dove Street and St. James Street, but no information on this case has been confirmed by Rolling Meadows Police Department.

The fire department was not called to the scene, and there was apparently no structural damage to the house where the crash occurred. Also, no injuries were reported.

A third neighbor told CARDINAL NEWS that a tow truck arrived, and the vehicle was towed away about 4:00 a.m.

Two neighbors confirmed that a K-9 unit was searching the neighborhood, including backyards. One of the neighbors heard police warn the offender or offenders on a loudspeaker that the police were releasing the K-9 to search for the offender or offenders. The neighbor saw the K-9 released on the west side of Wilke Road.

Wilke Road was blocked to traffic between Euclid Avenue and Campbell Street during the search for the suspects.
