While in Sweden with the rest of the Waystar Royco employees, Shiv and Matsson get some private time, with the two discussing personal issues. Matsson asks for some advice from Shiv, while Shiv seems to genuinely open up to him. While the two didn't get physical, sparks were flying, hinting they may be entering a romantic relationship.
Despite the signals, Shiv's desire to enter a relationship with Matsson has more to do with her vendetta against Tom. In Succession season 4, episode 5, Shiv tells Tom about how much more attractive Matsson is, clearly trying to make her estranged husband jealous.
