Chief Executive John Lee today led a Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Legislative Council delegation to visit the Greater Bay Area for a second day.

The delegation visited BYD Company’s headquarters in Shenzhen this morning, to learn about the firm’s latest developments in automobiles, rail transit, new energy and electronics as well as take a ride on its intelligent rail transit system SkyShuttle.

In the afternoon, Mr Lee and the lawmakers led by LegCo President Andrew Leung, called on Dajiang Innovations Technology to view its business development in small unmanned aircraft, handheld imaging systems and robotics education.

The group then toured the Qianhai Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Innovation & Entrepreneur Hub, where Hong Kong youths shared their development and work situation. Mr Lee said the Hong Kong SAR Government will provide more entrepreneurial support for Hong Kong young people to deepen their understanding of the Mainland’s youth innovation and entrepreneurship bases and policies, and facilitate their career growth in Qianhai.

Meanwhile, led by deputy leader of the delegation and Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki, another group of LegCo members visited the headquarters of Tencent in Shenzhen this afternoon, to find out about the Mainland's latest fintech and online business developments.

At a media session after visiting Tencent, Mr Chan told reporters that he had met young people from Hong Kong recruited via the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme. He was pleased to note that they enjoy working in Shenzhen and have learnt a lot, especially in the high-tech area.

Additionally, the Chief Secretary and the delegates toured Nantou Ancient Town, a cultural relics protection unit in Shenzhen, to better understand the city's work in conserving historical buildings and tourism development.

In the evening, Mr Lee and the delegates attended a dinner hosted by CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee Secretary Xiao Yafei and Dongguan Municipal Government Mayor Lyu Chengxi. The Chief Executive said he looked forward to continuing closer and more innovative high-level co-operation in more fields with Mainland bay area cities, with a view to bringing bay area development to new heights.

The delegation will head to Dongguan and Foshan tomorrow.
