KOCHI: A section of members who recently resigned from Kerala Congress (Joseph) launched a new party on Saturday, with its new chief declaring “no differences of opinion with BJP”.
The new party would be called the National Progressive Party (NPP), the members said and unveiled its flag at a function here. Ex-MLA VV Augustine would be the NPP chairman.
The party will have five general secretaries, including CP Sugathan, the leader of an organisation called “Hindu Parliament”.
On reports NPP would form an alliance with NDA, Augustine said no discussions had been held with BJP leaders before quickly issuing the “no-differences” clarification. “Party leaders will meet PM Modi in Delhi if needed,” said Augustine, a former member of the National Commission for Minorities. The NPP’s launch comes days before PM
Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kerala on April 24.
