Kevin Spacey has appeared in court via video link from an undisclosed location at a hearing before his trial for sexual offences against four men.
Spacey appeared at Southwark crown court on Friday for the pre-trial hearing. The four-week trial is due to start on 28 June.
The actor spoke to confirm his full name, and to say he could hear the judge, Mr Justice Wall, who also appeared by video link.
Patrick Gibbs KC, Spacey’s barrister, appeared in person. He refused to confirm his client’s location.
The Oscar-winning actor previously denied 12 charges of offences against four men that allegedly took place between 2001 and 2013.
The court heard Spacey may be required to appear for a further hearing in May.
In January, Spacey pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent. He had previously denied four charges of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
Spacey is best known for his performances in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, and his role as artistic director of the Old Vic theatre in London from 2004 to 2015.
The actor was dropped by Netflix and removed from the final series of the political drama House of Cards after accusations of sexual assault surfaced in 2017.
His performance as John Paul Getty in the 2017 film All the Money in the World was scrapped and his scenes reshot with Christopher Plummer taking over the role. Plummer received an Academy award nomination for the performance.
