MUMBAI:
BJP leaders and chief minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday attacked
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray for his comment that deputy CM Devendra
Fadnavis was "fadtoos" (worthless). Thackeray had said it after complaining of an alleged attack by Shiv Sena against a UBT camp woman activist.
Addressing a press meet at BJP's state headquarters, union minister for MSMEs Narayan Rane warned Thackeray not to step out of line or he would have to face consequences.
Rane said Thackeray's utterances stemmed from his frustration over losing power.
CM Shinde said apart from his father's good deeds and name, Uddhav had nothing else left with him. Shinde said Sena UBT had no right to say anything about Fadnavis "He (Fadnavis) has proved his achievements through his work. Those who are commenting, what is their achievement? Apart from his father's (Balasaheb's) legacy and name, what do you have left? With what authority are you saying this and against whom? People of Maharashtra give importance to work and not to such accusations," he said.
Raising the issue of unauthorised constructions, Rane alleged massive illegal construction at Matoshree 1 & 2. "I shall not complain about these illegalities but officials will take note of it," he said.
State BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule also urged the opposition to put a stop to personal remarks.
