KOLKATA: The Calcutta high court asked the
CBI on Tuesday to investigate the February 25 attack on junior Union home minister Nisith Pramanik's convoy in Cooch Behar. It also cited the Cooch Behar police report and said though the report was filed at the initial stage of investigation, "averments made therein suggest final conclusion already drawn by the state police authorities (sic)".
A division bench of Chief Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Justice Rai Chattopadhyay said in their order: We are of the view that to ensure a fair, unbiased and neutral investigation, it is necessary that the investigation is carried out by an independent agency." Suvendu Adhikari had moved this plea.
