Christine "Ziggy" Berman's death is one of the most shocking twists in the Fear Street trilogy, especially because she seemingly appears to be alive decades later. The character is first introduced in Fear Street Part One: 1994 as a reclusive woman and the only person to survive Sarah Fier's curse. She becomes a key figure in the '90s storyline, joining the main characters in a final effort to get rid of the curse once and for all. The second film, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, is told from Ziggy's perspective as a teenager at a summer camp.

Ziggy is played by two different actors. In Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Sadie Sink plays the character in her teenage years. Sink is known for being a member of Oscar-winning movie The Whale's cast and for her breakthrough role in Stranger Things. In both roles, Sink plays characters who experience alienation, and this is on par with Ziggy in Fear Street Part Two: 1978, which recounts the traumatizing events that led to her and her sister's death and what caused her to separate from society in the future. In the '90s storyline, Community's Gillian Jacobs plays the adult Ziggy.

Ziggy Berman Is Stabbed To Death By The Milkman In Fear Street

Cindy and Ziggy died next to each other

While Fear Street Part One: 1994 touches on the tragedies that stained Shadyside's reputation throughout the years, none of them come close to the massacre that occurred in 1978. In Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Shadysiders become the target of Sarah Fier's curse at a summer camp. Ziggy Berman and her older sister Cindy find themselves at the center of everything after Cindy's boyfriend, Tommy Slater, suddenly goes on a rampage and becomes another Fear Street Shadyside killer. Upon discovering Nurse Lane's diary, Cindy and Ziggy fight to stay alive and find the hand that Sarah Fier sacrificed to the devil, reuniting it with the witch's body.

On the way to the tree where Sarah was hanged, Ziggy accidentally bleeds on the witch's hand, triggering the curse and causing the Shadyside killers to target her. Upon realizing that, Cindy drops the hand and attempts to save Ziggy. However, a reanimated Tommy Slater kills Cindy with an axe as the Milkman reaches Ziggy, stabbing her to death.

The two sisters die side by side in a heartbreaking scene, and older Ziggy's melancholic personality finally makes sense. Despite her best efforts, she lost the most precious person in her life. Ziggy spent years thinking that Cindy died in vain, but with the help of Deena, Josh, Sam, and the others, she can finally avenge her.

Nick Revives Ziggy By Performing CPR

Sadie Sink as Ziggy Berman in Fear Street Part 2 1978

It's difficult to understand why Nick saves Ziggy when he finds her shortly after her death. In Fear Street Part Three: 1666, Nick is revealed to be part of the family who cursed Shadyside for decades, eventually becoming the trilogy's biggest antagonist. Although he causes the death of several innocent citizens just to keep his family's legacy, 1978's Nick desperately tries to bring Ziggy back to life, successfully resuscitating her through CPR. This could be because he genuinely had feelings for her, or the Fear Street character knew it was his only chance to do something good.
